7. – 9.9.2018 | Brown coal mining and its consequences part 1 and 2

We're initiating a new series of seminars focussing on different kinds of engagement performed by civil society initiatives. We're inviting youngsters and young adults aged 16 or older to take a very practical look at that engagement. Why do they sit up there in their tree houses shivering? Why would anyone chain themselves to an excavator?! And what's the problem about the brown coal mining? - these are questions that might accompany us during the first two seminar weekends. We want to look behind the scenes of protest movements and to ask people committed to their cause what makes them take action. We want to encourage our participants to take peaceful action themselves for a cause they care about.
In June spent a weekend close to Cologne to see and experience the brown coal mining and its consequences on the ground. In September we'll continue our journey in the area of Leipzig to see how the long-term consequences of mining look like and what changes happened to the landscape and people.
