Every good organization needs a board — and the ESR is no exception. The board is elected by the general membership meeting and serves on a volunteer basis. In addition to the chairperson, her vice chair, and the treasurer, the board usually includes one person selected from among the active volunteers.
Leonie Groß-Usai
I have been actively involved in the ESR’s youth work since 2013, when I was trained as a volunteer at the age of 16. I have also been a member of the ESR board since 2017 and am now its chairperson. Through the ESR, I have also trained as a volunteer for general class conferences and those on the topic of war and peace. I also studied law in Bonn and am doing a doctorate in it. In my free time, I like to play Skyrim or Stardew Valley or knot various things.

Dirk Thamm
Rainer Triller
From 1975 to 2016, Rainer worked as a teacher specializing in religion and as a principal or assistant principal at special education schools in Lower Saxony, focusing on learning as well as emotional and social development. He has been retired since then and serves on the ESR’s board of directors.
As a former member of the Lower Saxony Bible Circle (BK), he served on its leadership team from 1967 to 1971; as a youth, he was a member and leader of BK groups in Nienburg/Weser from 1966 to 1971, and from 2011 until…
As part of this, he visited the BK retreat center on Baltrum for the first time as a teenager in the summer of 1966 during a summer camp organized by the Lower Saxony BK, and later returned from 2012 to 2022 to attend the Bible retreats for ESR alumni.

Inge Weßler
Inge serves on the Baltrum Committee and works in the administration of our BK Home.

Rahel Düx
In summer 2019, I was a team member at the ESR for the first time. I then became a member of the association. I’ve also been on the board for over a year. Through the ESR, I discovered my interest in working with young people, which is why I’m studying educational science at the University of Cologne.
As an volunteer, I’ve mainly been involved in the summer camps and the occasional cooking weekend. But I’m looking forward to new projects of all kinds in the future. I also hope to gain experience in educational work with the ESR. Peace work, intersectional feminism and interreligious exchange are topics that interest me a lot.
One of my favorite memories of the ESR is how we sing together, whether in the upper club room, on the beach or at the campfire in front of the BK-Heim.

Marcel Usai
I have been involved as a volunteer since the autumn of 2010. Since 2012, I have been increasingly active with the Protestant Youth in the Rhineland (Evangelische Jugend im Rheinland) on behalf of the ESR.
I am often part of the team for adventure camps or hiking trips. I also lead peace education workshops with school classes. I practice karate and work as an engineer.
